Emma Gelders Sterne
(1894 - 1971)
Emma Gelders Sterne was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1894. She graduated from Smith College in 1916. She began her writing career by writing stories for her two daughters. She went on to write historical fiction and history books for children. She was a strong proponent of civil rights.
