Paul Valentine Lantz

Paul Valentine Lantz was an American realist painter and muralist. During World War II, he traveling with an infantry-combat division overseas. After the war, he taught. He illustrated more than thirty-five children’s books.

During the French and Indian War in upper New York state, Edward is determined to protect his home. He is only ten years old but his father gave him an ancient, heavy Spanish gun before leaving home to fight the enemy.
