Born in Fort Payne, Alabama, Marine Corps Major James Ralph Scott Johnson served in WWII and Korea. In addition to his own writing and illustration he has collaborated on books with his wife, Burdetta Faye Beebe. Many of his works deal with nature and outdoor activities.
