William Fordyce Mavor, LL.D. was a Scottish teacher, priest and compiler of educational books. He is best remembered for The English Spelling Book.

An elementary school speller. The illustrations were later used for the Almanacks of 1889 and 1895 and the initial letters for the ABC.
